Elsie Lillian Knowles, born 1915, died in infancy after falling from a high chair and fracturing her skull.
No photograph is known to me.
Mother said she was told the catastrophe was her (Mother's) fault, for pulling off the restraining bar from Elsie's high chair. This may very well have been so — Mum was only two at the time, and she remembered being taunted in childhood as a "murderer". Elsie was a favorite of Grandma's — very pretty (said Grandma) with jet black hair like her father. |
